Unnikrishnan "Unni" Mukundan (born 22 September 1987), is an Indian film actor known for his work in Malayalam cinema. He made his debut with the Tamil film Seedan (2011), which was the remake of Nandanam (2002). Then starred in his Malayalam debut with the critically acclaimed film Bombay March 12 (2011). And later played the title role in the commercially successful Mallu Singh (2012). Recently he has starred in the film co-starring Dulquer Salmaan and Namitha Pramod, "Vikramadithyan".

Personal life

Unni Mukundan was born to Madathiparambil Mukundan Nair and Roji Mukundan on 22 September 1987. He has an elder sister Kartika. His native place is Villadom, Trichur District, Kerala state but settled in Ahmadabad, Gujarat State. Presently Unni Mukundan is staying at Edappally, Ernakulam. Unni entered the film industry after completing his Plus Two in commerce. Currently he is pursuing B.A. English at Prajyothi Niketan College in Thrissur.[1]

Acting career

In 2011, Mukundan made his film debut in Tamil film Seedan, an adaptation of the Malayalam film Nandanam, and was chosen for the hero's role.[2] The film was directed by Subramaniam Shiva and released on 25 February 2011. Mukundan entered the Malayalam film industry through Bombay March 12 alongside Mammootty, directed by Babu Janardhanan. He played the supporting role in Thalsamayam Oru Penkutty, directed by T. K. Rajeev Kumar,[3] unlike in his previous appearances, where he was in the ensemble.[4][5] He also featured in films like Bangkok Summer and Ezham Suryan. He played the title role in the film Mallu Singh along with Kunchacko Boban in this film which was directed by Vaishakh. Mallu Singh received mixed reviews but did well in the box office. He also played the lead role along with Asif Ali in the movie I Love Me in 2012 December which failed in the box office. His last release was "The Last Supper". He is doing a cameo role in upcoming Mammootty film Rajadhi Raja. His upcoming movies are Samrajyam II: Son of Alexander directed by Tamil film director Perarasu, Kaatum Mazhayum by Director Harikumar.
