The University of New Haven Police is the university police department of the University of New Haven, which has an 84-acre (340,000 m2) campus in West Haven, Connecticut. Its 16 officers are state certified and sworn law enforcement officers[1], protecting the campus area 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The department has full police power on the university campus as a constabulary of the city of West Haven Police Department.[2] Police authority is granted by state statute through the Mayor of the city of West Haven.

In 2007, the Connecticut Supreme Court decided in Miron v. University of New Haven Police Department (SC 17596) that employers had the right to give critical job reviews.[4]
