The University of New Haven Police is the university police department of the University of New Haven, which has an 84-acre (340,000 m2) campus in West Haven, Connecticut. Its 16 officers are state certified and sworn law enforcement officers[1], protecting the campus area 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The department has full police power on the university campus as a constabulary of the city of West Haven Police Department.[2] Police authority is granted by state statute through the Mayor of the city of West Haven.

Programs
- The Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) system is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques presented by three nationally certified instructors. It is a free and comprehensive 12-hour course covering awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance and the basics of hands-on defense training.[3]
- The university's text alert system (e2campus) can be used to send emergency messages to all UNH e-mail boxes, including police notifications.
Court case
In 2007, the Connecticut Supreme Court decided in Miron v. University of New Haven Police Department (SC 17596) that employers had the right to give critical job reviews.[4]
