The University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, is located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is a research intensive faculty established in 1913,[1] one of the oldest in Western Canada. The faculty generated $189 million in research in 2008, and is one of the better funded medical research facilities in Canada.

Academics

Admissions

The University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine is highly competitive. For admissions into the MD (medical) program, the MCAT requirement to gain entrance is the highest in Canada while the GPA requirement is the second highest in Canada.[2]

For admissions into the MD program, in 2012, 1324 applications were made for 167 spots. [3] For admissions into the DDS (dental) program, in 2011, 399 applications were made for 33 spots.[4]

Facilities

Edmonton Clinic

Once completed, the Edmonton Clinic will become the center of medical education in Alberta. It will take a collaborative approach towards medical education, whereby a team of health practitioners will participate and collaborate. The facility is currently in construction.[5]
