United Presbyterian Church of Pakistan is a Protestant denomination of Pakistan. It formerly was known as Siloam Biblical Christian Church of Pakistan. It is part of the Society of Biblical Christian Churches of Pakistan.[1] The United Presbyterian Church of Pakistan shares Faith Theological Seminary with the Anglican Orthodox Church.[2] The church was established in 1964 in a donated plot with a few people Essa Negri Plain Church, Karachi, and it has a long hisrory in the establishment of Gujradwara Council and the Synod of the United Presbyterian Church in Pakistan.[3] It does not belong to the World Communion of Reformed Churches.[4] Nor does it belong to the International Conference of Reformed Churches.[5] It belongs to the World Reformed Fellowship,[6] to which the Associated Presbyterian Churches of Scotland belong as well.[7] There is persecution of Christians in Pakistan.

Polity and statistics

Estimated membership is approximately 10,000 with 25 pastors, 10 evangelists, 30 elders and 20 church buildings and 20 parsonages. The session is the basic unit with teaching elders and ruling elders and deacons. The presbytery is a higher body. Activities of the church include evangelistic ministry, education ministry, agriculture ministry, jail ministry, community development and theological education.[8] The head office located in Karachi.[9]
