The United Nations Association of Singapore (UNAS) was established as a non-governmental organization in 1969 in Singapore. As a voluntary organization, its membership is open to anyone who supports the United Nations and its charter obligations.

Aims

The mission of UNAS is to promote peace, human rights, respect for international law, social progress and better standards of living and freedom. In recent years, the organisation's activities and programmes have been focused increasingly on issues such as protection of the environment and the rights of children, women, older persons and minorities.

Activities

UNAS promotes United Nations' related activities in Singapore, such as organizing conferences and seminars, raising funds and giving awards. The organization aims to promote better understanding of the role and structure of United Nations to the population, especially students. It has closely collaborated in educational events (such as Model United Nations and Young Diplomat Scheme) with many Junior Colleges like Hwa Chong Institution, NUS High School and Singapore Chinese Girls' School. Hwa Chong Institution has also hosted The Hague International Model United Nations 2011 in Singapore.
