Christopher Tyler Austin (born September 6, 1991) is an American professional baseball outfielder in the New York Yankees' organization.

Professional career

Austin was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 13th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft out of Heritage High School in Conyers, Georgia.[1]

In 2011, while playing for the Gulf Coast Yankees and Staten Island Yankees, he hit .354/.418/.579 with six home runs and 36 runs batted in in 47 games. He was named to appear in the 2012 All-Star Futures Game.[2] He was promoted to Double-A Trenton Thunder on September 2, 2012.[3] He finished the 2012 season, hitting .322/.400/.559 with 17 home runs and 80 runs batted in.

Prior to the 2013 season, Austin was ranked as the 77th best prospect in baseball by Baseball America.[4] On November 20, 2014, he was placed on the 40–man roster.[5]

Personal

Austin was diagnosed with testicular cancer at 17.[6] He had surgery to remove the tumor and there has not been any signs of the cancer since.
