Tweed Marijuana Inc is a medical marijuana company based out of Smiths Falls, Ontario. It is the first of 13 licensed marijuana companies in Canada to go public, and is traded on the TSX Venture Exchange as TWD. Tweed operates out of the former Hershey's Chocolate factory in Smith's Falls Ontario,[1] and operates a greenhouse in Niagara-on-the-Lake.[2]
Timeline
- In January 2014, Tweed was granted the licence to legally produce marijuana for registered users of cannabis.[3]
- In April, 2014, the “Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR)” came into effect, with tweed's NOTL facility being the first approved.
- In June 2014, the Company acquired Prime1 Construction Services Corp.
- September 2014, CEO Chuck Rifici stepped-down as CEO, and the company is currently operating with interim CEO.
