Tufanganj I (community development block) is an administrative division in Tufanganj subdivision of Cooch Behar district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Tufanganj police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is at Tufanganj.[1][2]
Geography
Natabari, a constituent panchayat of the block, is located at 26°24′57″N 89°35′45″E / 26.415833°N 89.595833°E.
Tufanganj I community development block has an area of 191.68 km2.[2]

Gram panchayats of Tufanganj I block/ panchayat samiti are: Andaran Fulbari I, Andaran Fulbari II, Balabhut, Balarampur I, Balarampur II, Chilakhana I, Chilakhana II, Deocharai, Dhalpal I, Dhalpal II, Maruganj, Nakkatigachh, Natabari I and Natabari II.[3]
Demographics
As per 2001 census, Tufanganj I block had a total population of 222,993, out of which 113,825 were males and 109,168 were females. Tufanganj I block registered a population growth of 16.47 per cent during the 1991-2001 decade. Decadal growth for the district was 14.15 per cent.[2] Decadal growth in West Bengal was 17.84 per cent.[4]
Literacy
Tufanganj I block had a literacy rate of 66.32 per cent - males 75.65 per cent and females 56.57 per cent.[3]
