True as a Turtle is a 1957 British comedy film directed by Wendy Toye and starring John Gregson, Cecil Parker, June Thorburn and Keith Michell. A young couple embark on a voyage on a ketch named Turtle.[1] John Coates wrote the screenplay based on his novel of the same name. The England maritime location was mainly the river Hamble. The yacht club is the Royal Lymington Yacht Club. The motor yacht "Liberty" was M.Y. "Rinansey", my father was engineer aboard her prior to the filming. Some of the film crew stayed at "The Moorings", Back Street (now Rope Walk) in Hamble. I know this because it was my home which my parents ran as a B&B. I remember watching some of the filming, very entertaining to a 9 year old boy.
