Troy E. Brown is an American state legislator from Geismar in Ascension Parish, Louisiana. Brown serves as a member of the Louisiana State Senate and took office in 2012.

Early life and career

Brown is from Napoleonville, Louisiana but currently resides in Geismar, Louisiana.[1] He graduated from Assumption High School. Brown received his associate degree and bachelor's degrees from Southern University. He majored in criminal justice.[2] Brown also attended but did not graduate from Louisiana State University and the Southern University Law Center.[3] He owns and works as the Chief Executive Officer of Home-Health PCA, LLC and Troy Brown Construction. He is a member of the Louisiana Association of Home Builders and the National Association of Home Builders.[1][2][3][4]

State Senate

On July 5, 2011, Brown announced his candidacy for the Louisiana State Senate from the 2nd District. Previously, he had campaigned for only one other office; In 2007, he ran to become a State Representative and lost by 4%.[4] He was elected to the Senate in 2011 and took office in 2012. He is a member of the Senate Transportation, Highways and Public Works committee, as well as the committees for Insurance and Select Vocational & Technical Education. He also serves as Vice-Chairman of the Environmental Quality committee.[3]

As Senator, Brown has advocated for better pay and benefits for Police, Firefighters, and other emergency personnel.[1][2][4]

Family and personal life

Brown is married to Toni B. Brown and has two children: Jatiea and Jaedon.[3][4] Brown and his family worship at Saint Paul Baptist Church in Napoleonville.[2]
