Trade and Tryon

The intersection of Trade and Tryon streets is the crossroads of Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina; it marks the city center and divides the city's first four wards.[1] The two streets intersect at Independence Square,[2] known locally as simply "The Square", this originated as the crossroads for a pair of native American trails. From this location, the city was founded and expanded. Tryon Street runs northeast-southwest, while Trade Street runs southeast-northwest.
