Toronto Pearson Terminal 1 Station is a railway and people-mover station at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. It is the eastern terminus of the inter-terminal LINK Train, and will serve as the western terminus of the future Union Pearson Express.

It consists of a single island platform serving four tracks. The outermost pair of tracks runs the full length of the station and serves the LINK Train, while the innermost pair terminates halfway along the station and will serve the Union Pearson Express.

History

Terminal 1 Station opened in July 2006 as a terminus of the three-station LINK Train. The structure included support pillars allowing the station to be expanded to serve a future airport rail link to downtown Toronto.[1]

In July 2010, Metrolinx, Toronto's regional transport agency, announced it would create a mainline rail connection to Pearson Airport from Toronto Union Station. Construction began in spring 2012, and is expected to be completed in time for the 2015 Pan American Games.[2]

Services

The LINK Train operates every 4 minutes throughout most of the day, and every 8 minutes between 7:30 and 11:30, and between 23:30 and 03:30.[3] The full trip to Viscount station takes under four minutes.[1]

The Union Pearson Express will operate every 15 minutes, with a 25-minute travel time to Union Station.[4]

Connections

Bus service operates from the ground level of Terminal 1, two floors below the train station.

Current local bus transit service is provided by MiWay (Mississauga Transit) routes 7 and 24, and Brampton Transit route 115. Between the airport and the city of Toronto the Toronto Transit Commission links to the subway via express route 192 to Kipling station, and route 52 to Lawrence and Lawrence West stations. Routes 300A and 307 provide overnight TTC service. Regional bus transit is provided by Go Transit routes 34 and 40.
