Topp Dogg (Korean: 탑독) is a hip-hop boys group from South Korea formed by Cho PD under Stardom Entertainment in 2013. Topp Dogg released 6 singles and did a world tour in 2014.

Career

Pre-debut

On March 2012, during an interview, Cho PD revealed his intention to create a hip-hop new boys group for his new label. Mixtapes were released in March and April 2012. Members began being introduced in 2013.[1]

Kidoh started off as an underground, as a member of the hip-hop crew DaeNamHyup.[2] He later became a trainee at BigHit Entertainment. He was part of the lineup for group Bangtan Boys, but left for unknown reasons.

Nakta was previously a trainee at Jellyfish Entertainment and appeared in their Idol survival program, MyDol, as one of the 10 trainees to be chosen from to debut as VIXX.

Hojoon was a trainee at Brave Entertainment, having appeared in the Idol survival program, Bigstar Show, as one of 7 trainees to be chosen as members of BIGSTAR.

2013: Debut Say It and repackaged Cigarette

In October 22, 2013, the band debuted on TV with "Say it", and two days later their first EP, "Dogg's Out", was released.[3]

In December 19, 2013, Topp Dogg made their return with their repackaged EP 'Dogg's Out', which included a new title "Cigarette" and a Chinese version for "Say It".[4]

2014: Arario, AmadeuS, "Annie"

On January 13, 2014, Stardom Entertainment released a teaser for the second mini album of Topp Dogg. [5] On January 16, 2014, Topp Dogg made their comeback with their second mini album titled "Arario". The same day they also started their first promotions through "M!Countdown".

On February 12, 2014, Topp Dogg released a new music video for their follow-up track titled "Arario".[6] They then released a 'special' album "Arario Special Edition" on February 24.

On 9 June 2014, it was revealed that Topp Dogg will release their third mini-album called "AmadeuS" with the title track "TOPDOG". However, a few days before the official release, the entire album was leaked on the enternet. The label attempted remove the songs as fast as possible, and later took legal action against the culprit. [7][8]

In August, 25th, Topp Dogg repackaged their last album and released the "AmadeuS Deluxe Edition" with three new tracks in.

For their first anniversary Topp Dogg released a new "old school" song, "Annie", on October 16, 2014.[9] Which is a short for "Anniversary".

2015

In December 2014, Topp Dogg's agency Stardom Entertainment announced the launch of a 2015 world tour titled 'World TopKlass' which includes confirmed concerts in 13 cities and 11 countries spanning Europe, Asia and South America. The world tour was slated to commence in January 2015 and additional locations were still pending confirmation at the time of the announcement.[10] American tour dates for concerts in three American cities as part of 'Topp Dogg First Showcase 2015 Live in U.S.' were added to the 'World TopKlass' World Tour. The concerts were held in Houston, Texas; Miami Beach, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia during February 2015.[11]
