Tommy Wallach

Tommy Wallach (born December 19, 1982) is a Brooklyn-based writer and musician. He attended NYU’s Gallatin School and Tisch School of the Arts, graduating in 2005. He holds a Master Degree in Journalism from Stanford University.

His writing has appeared in McSweeney’s, Tin House, ReadyMade, Zyzzyva, and The Toast. His first novel, “We All Looked Up,” was published by Simon and Schuster on March 24, 2015 and became a NY Times bestseller on April 26, 2015. Paramount Pictures has optioned the book for film and the screenplay is currently in development. Foreign rights to the novel have been sold in 9 countries. His second novel, "Thanks for the Trouble", will be published by Simon and Schuster in May 2016.

Tommy has also written a companion album of original music, which was released along with the book on 3/24/15. He performed it live at Joe's Pub in NYC in March 2016. This album is his second full length album. His first album is "I Meant It To Be Sweet." He has also released an EP with Decca Records/Universal. "

An original music video made by Wallach and Tallie Maughan for Wallach's song “Whisper” was a finalist in the YouTube/Guggenheim video contest. The video was on display at the Guggenheim Museum in NY for several weeks, and Wallach performed at the Guggenheim with OK Go and Michael Showalter.

Tommy is a recent MacDowell Fellow.
