Tomasz Zdebel (born 25 May 1973) is a retired Polish footballer[1] who played as a defensive midfielder. He was active in his active career in Germany, Belgium and Turkey. From 2000 to 2003, he played for the Polish national team.
Biography
Zdebel was born and grew up in the Upper Silesian city of Katowice (German: Kattowitz).[2] His father was a football player, but the family could not survive with the income of the father as a football player, so he worked as a miner during the week.[2] Zdebel started playing football in the local club GKS Katowice. In 1988, he emigrated at the age of 14[2] to Düsseldorf.[2] He joined the youth team of Fortuna Düsseldorf, but his active career began in 1990 at Rot-Weiss Essen. A year later, the Essen's license was revoked and thus the team relegated from the Bundesliga. Zdebel stayed at the club.
