Tolovana Hot Springs
Located south of the Elliott Highway in interior Alaska, Tolovana Hot Springs is the most remote of the "big 4" hot springs in the region. A private air strip has recently been cleared, and there is no road access. Besides the air strip, Tolovana Hot Springs is accessible through three trails, two of which are only usable in winter
Location/Geography
Located 45 air miles northwest of Fairbanks in the Tolovana River Valley.
The Trail
The 11-mile trail beginning at Mile 93.3 of the Elliott Highway goes up and over 2,316-foot Tolovana Hot Springs Dome and provides panoramic views of the White Mountains. There are two steep descents on the way in, and two steep climbs on the way out.
Amenities
The three cabins have all the amenities of home - propane lights, propane stoves, wood stoves, piles of split firewood neatly stacked right outside the door, bunk beds, sleeping pads, pots, pans, cups, silverware, etc. There is a fresh spring to scoop water out of so you don't have to haul water or melt snow.
