Toll roads in Belarus

Toll roads in Belarus cover 933 kilometres (580 mi). The Electronic Toll Collection system in Belarus is known as "BelToll".

Toll collection

Toll collection is based on dedicated short-range communications. It allows road users to pay tolls without stopping at toll stations. Gantries (metal portals) fitted with antennae enable communication between transceivers and special devices, called On-board Units that are mounted on the interior of the windscreen of each vehicle. When a driver passes beneath a gantry, the ETC-system automatically deducts money from the driver's user account, which is established upon registration. Special lanes or speed reductions are not required. This means free-flowing traffic for road users.
