Tiruppathur is one of the main towns in Sivagangai District, Tamil Nadu, India. It is capital town of Thiruppathur taluk.It is located near Karaikudi.
Geography
Thiruppathur is located in Sivagangai district on the Madurai - Tanjore Highway. Earlier it was a small village in Ramanathapuram District. It was changed from Panchayat to town panchayat. The city is connected only by Roadways. The Virusuliyar River flows through Kumangudi. Thiruppathur's Postal pincode is 630211 and Dialing code is 04577. It is 290 km from Coimbatore, 100 km from Trichy, 60 km from Madurai, and 400 km from Chennai, 50 km from Pudukkottai. Thiruppathur is located at 10°04′N 78°47′E / 10.07°N 78.78°E / 10.07; 78.78.[7] It has an average elevation of 82 metres (269 feet).
