Individual Paralympic Athletes (2000) |
Timor-Leste (East Timor) sent a delegation to compete at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China. The country was said to send 11 representatives, who were to compete in the fields of the marathon, powerlifting, table tennis and wheelchair tennis. This would have made Timor-Leste's Paralympic delegation larger than its Olympic delegation to Beijing.[1] However, official records give no indication that more than one East Timorese athlete (16-year-old powerlifter Lily Costa Silva[2]) eventually entered competition. Costa Silva was also listed as the country's flagbearer for both the opening[3] and the closing[4] ceremonies.
