Plot

Set a week after the end of the sixth season, the episode begins with Red giving Eric a hard time for having no direction in his life. Because Eric had no answer on what he was going to do about Donna, his job, his future, or when he was going to move out, Red and Kitty refuse to feed him until he has answers. Shortly after, Eric speaks to Donna about the wedding incident; both agree that they were moving too fast and agree to stay together, but no longer pursue marriage for the time being.

While talking with his friends, Eric discovers what he wants to do with his life, and decides that he's going to take the next year off completely. In order to have the funds to do so, he decides to sell Donna's engagement ring, only to find out that Donna threw it off the water tower after he left her at the altar. Eric and his friends head to the water tower to begin their search; Eric finds the ring after accidentally falling off the water tower. At the end of the episode, Eric arrives just in time for dinner at his house and tells Red that he and Donna are hanging out, he quit his job at the hotel, he's doing nothing about his future, and is not moving out anytime soon.

The other storyline in the episode involved Bob Pinciotti's love triangle also involving his ex-wife Midge and his new girlfriend Pam, with the two insisting that he chooses only one of them. Kitty insists that he chooses Midge, in an attempt to bring Donna's family back together, while Red wants Bob to choose Pam because of her looks. Near the end of the episode, Pam breaks up with Bob after she sees him to struggle climbing up a ladder and takes Jackie with her and begins living on her own again.
