Tim Thornton (musician)

Tim Thornton (born 1973) is an English musician, composer and novelist. He is best known at being the drummer and guitarist for the UK Indie act Fink.

Thornton was born in Darlington, had a boarding-school education, and gained a degree in drama.[1] In 2006 he was asked by his friend Fin Greenall to contribute drums on the album Biscuits for Breakfast; he has been Fink's drummer ever since.[2] His debut novel The Alternative Hero (Jonathan Cape/Knopf, 2009) has been described by The Guardian as "the indiest book of all time".[3] His second novel, Death Of An Unsigned Band, was published through Cape in July 2010. Both have a music industry background.

In 2012, Thornton's music for the British short film Fish! was nominated for Best Score (Short Film) at the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema, and given an Honorable Mention.[4] Thornton is currently scoring the music for the upcoming 2015 short film The Five Wives and Lives of Melvyn Pfferberg, directed by Damian Samuels and starring Brooke D'Orsay and Callum Blue.
