Early Years
Born to Mr. Ahamed Hajee Mohiudeen and Mrs. Bee Fathima Ahmed Hajee on 23 March 1957, in the town of Thumbay, located at Mangalore, Karnataka, India. A third generation business entrepreneur hailing from a well-known business family from Mangalore, Moideen took to business at the young age of 21 years,[3] and demonstrated his business acumen right from the beginning. Handling the mantle of the large business house established by his father in 1957, he took the businesses to great heights within a few years. He is married to Zohra Moideen and has two sons, Akbar Moideen Thumbay and Akram Moideen Thumbay.[2]
Career
Drawn by the U.A.E's exponential growth and its investor-friendly policies, Moideen brought the family business to the Gulf with the launch of The Thumbay Group,UAE in 1997. Starting with establishment of his corporate firm, Thumbay Group in 1997, he set up business operations in 13 sectors over the course of 16 years.[3] Today, the Group has developed into a business conglomerate with diversified interests in hospitals, medical centres, diagnostic centres, healthclubs, pharmacies, retail outlets, coffee shoppes and nutrition stores spread out across the Emirates.[3][4] The organisation employs more than 2200 employees in the UAE.
