Three Horses Beer (better known locally as THB) is a 5.4% abv pale lager brewed by the Star Brewery of Madagascar and sold country-wide. THB Pilsener, the most common, has a light taste in the pale lager style and is produced from fermented barley and corn. There is also a THB Special, which is 6.2% alcohol, and a THB Lite, which is a low alcohol beer (1%). There is also THB Fresh, a shandy (locally called Panaché), with less than 1% of alcohol.
THB Pilsener is sold in two sizes of returnable brown bottles: 33 centilitres (12 imp fl oz; 11 US fl oz) and 66 centilitres (23 imp fl oz; 22 US fl oz) bottles. An export version of the Three Horses Beer can be found in aluminum cans.
Three Horses Beer sponsors the THB Champions League, the premier football competition in Madagascar.
