Thichur in Talapally Taluk, is a small village situated in the midst of greeneries, forests, plains on the hill tops having ‘tiger dens’ (the hiding rest place of cheetah and tigers at night or days). It is coming in Trissur District just on the north of the district; about 30 kilometers away. Wadakancheri, Kunnamkulam, Shornur and Pattambi are the nearest small towns. According to a survey undertaken about a decade back, it was noted to be the first litigation free village in the whole of India.
The village is blessed by the Lord Dharma Shasta, a temple reportedly with historical background of more than 2,000 years back. This temple is the worship place for the villages and historically connected with twenty-two-and-half villages. It is believed that the Diety of Lord "Swayambhoo" (not one installed by tradition, but emerged from the earth)and He protects the welfare and happiness of the habitation in the village.
It is further pertinent to note here that the famous Kathakali Artists hailing from the Kavungal family is well known to the Kathakali artists. Sarva Shri Shankarankutty Panicker and Chattuni Panicker are well known in this traditional art. An additional more piece of information is also known (it has been reported years back in one of the 'Karotpadi' programmes, where Cine Actor Amita Bachan has been championing the programme) is that this village with less than 10,000 people, is reported as the 'LITIGATION FREE VILLAGE' . I have also come across the information in the Google about regarding the appointment of a first commission to study it. That really reveals how harmoniously the people of this village live with concern and love for each other.
