Thiago Heleno Henrique Ferreira (born 17 August 1988 in Sete Lagoas) is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Figueirense as a central defender.
Club career
Thiago Heleno was brought up from the Cruzeiro youth squad.
He made his professional debut in a 2–0 home win for Cruzeiro against Juventude in the Campeonato Brasileiro on May 7, 2006.[2]
Thiago Heleno scored his first professional goal for Cruzeiro against Fortaleza in a 2–0 away win on June 3, 2006.[3] In August 2010 he was sold to Deportivo Maldonado, a proxy club for investor and football agent.[4][5]
Thiago joined Corinthians on August 2010, but he failed to play regularly and ended up leaving the team at the end of the 2010 season.
He joined Palmeiras on January 2011.
International career
Thiago Heleno is capped at Brazil U-17 level. With the Brazil Under-17 squad he won the 2005 South American Under 17 Football Championship.
He was also part of the Brazil U-20 squad. He was called up to play in the 2007 South American Youth Championship and was involved in six of the nine matches that Brazil had to compete in. He played every minute in the games he was involved in, except for the one against Paraguay, where he was substituted in the 81st minute. Thiago Heleno also played in the final, where Brazil won 2–0 against Colombia; Brazil won the cup for the 9th time in history.
