Theodore Boronovskis

Theodore (Ted) Boronovskis (born 27 July 1943) is an Australian Judo champion and winner of a bronze medal at the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games.

1964 Olympics

Judo made its Olympic debut at Tokyo, in 1964, and Boronovskis was Australia's only Judo representative in the team, competing in the 'Open Division', i.e. competitors had no maximum weight limit.

In the first round Boronovskis defeated I. Ryan (IRE) and in the second round he defeated A. Huchicha (TUN). In the Semi-Final he was defeated by the eventual gold medalist, Anton Geesink (NED). [1]

Boronovskis' bronze medal was Australia's only medal in Olympic judo until Maria Pekli matched the feat at 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

Boronovskis was also a six-time Australian Judo champion.
