The Very Best of The Jam is the third greatest hits package (fourth including Compact Snap!) from The Jam and was released in 1997. It features all of The Jam's singles in chronological order.
It has the same tracks as Greatest Hits, but with two more tracks.
"The Bitterest Pill (I Ever Had to Swallow)" was released as a single in 1997 to promote the album, it was previously a single 15 years before, and again 4 years later in 2001.
A VHS of 15 music videos to songs on the album was released. These 15 music videos previously made the Snap VHS in 1983. Therefore both VHS contain the same content.
