The Steel of Madrid (El acero de Madrid) is a 1608 play by the Spanish writer Lope de Vega.
Plot
Lisardo is a gallant without noble lineage. He has fallen in love with Belisa, who returns his love but has been promised to Octavio by her father. Lisardo's friend Riselo offers to pretend to woo Teodora, Belisa's aunt, who accompanies her everywhere, hoping this will give Lisardo an excuse to approach Belisa. However, this selfless action of Riselo infuriates his lover Marcela, whom Florencio is wooing. After various misadventures and misunderstandings, Lisardo and Belisa marry.
