The Sound Research
The Sound Research is a global qualitative research and branding consultancy headquartered in Vancouver, Canada with offices in Toronto, London, Chicago, New York and Mumbai
Founded in 2007 by Ian Pierpont, president, the company's researchers and anthropologists gain insight into generational behavioral trends using analysis of ethnographies, online communities, focus group workshops, co-creation and psychological models.
On Father's Day, June 16, 2013, the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC) premiered the film Dads... produced by The Sound Films, a division of The Sound Research, in conjunction with Tabula Dada Productions. Directed by Dave Rees, and filmed in Vancouver, London and New York, the documentary offers first-hand accounts of contemporary fatherhood through intimate, deep-dive ethnographies—a technique that required seven fathers to keep a video diary for six months.
The Sound has published non-proprietary findings on its website and presented them at research conferences around the world. The reports include: The Meninist Movement, The Birth of Femfillment, Boom!, Millennials Vs. GenX and most recently, Generation Edge: the post-Millennials.
MillerCoors named The Sound 2012 Marketing Supplier of the Year for their research work for the beer company. This was the first time that the award has been won by a research firm.
