The sixth season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, an American reality television series, premiered on July 13, 2014, and is broadcast on Bravo. It is primarily filmed in New Jersey; its executive producers are Rebecca Toth Diefenbach, Valerie Haselton, Lucilla D'Agostino, Jim Fraenkel, Omid Kahangi, Caroline Self, and Andy Cohen.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey focuses on the lives of returning cast members Teresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga, and Dina Manzo, the latter of whom returned after originally leaving the series during the second season. Former cast members Jacqueline Laurita, and Kathy Wakile appeared periodically throughout the season, but were replaced along with Caroline Manzo by Teresa Aprea, Amber Marchese and Nicole Napolitano.

Production and crew

The Real Housewives of New Jersey was officially renewed for its sixth season on April 8, 2014,[1] while its official trailer premiered on May 14, 2014.[2] Rebecca Toth Diefenbach, Valerie Haselton, Lucilla D'Agostino, Jim Fraenkel, Omid Kahangi, Caroline Self, and Andy Cohen are recognized as the series' executive producers; it is produced and distributed by Sirens Media.[3]

Cast and synopsis

"Well, I'm asked back pretty much every year to be honest with you. It never felt right. This year, it kind of felt right between the changes going on in my life, and Teresa [Giudice] and I have organically gotten closer this past summer because of what she's going through... We became close friends again, hanging out, and it organically just happened. And they asked me last-minute. I came in last-minute."

Two of the five housewives featured on the fifth season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey returned for the sixth installment.[5][6] Caroline Manzo, one of the series' original housewives, announced her departure shortly after the fifth season concluded in October 2013, and began filming for her spin-off series Manzo'd with Children.[7] Jacqueline Laurita and Kathy Wakile, who respectively joined the series during the first and third seasons, confirmed their exits from the program in February and May 2014.[8][9] Bravo officially announced the cast for the sixth season, which consists of six housewives, on May 14, 2014.[10]

Teresa Giudice and her husband Joe handle the fallout of their highly publicized legal difficulties, while Melissa Gorga and her husband Joe embark on a business venture in the sanitation industry. Breast cancer survivor and new housewife Amber Marchese wishes to rekindle her former friendship with Gorga, while twins Teresa Aprea and Nicole Napolitano join as the second and third new housewives of the season; Teresa and her husband Rino own a successful restaurant in Little Italy, Manhattan, while the single Nicole balances her professional pursuits with a budding relationship.[6] Caroline Manzo's estranged sister Dina Manzo announced her return for the sixth season later in October 2013; she was originally included as an original housewife during the first season, although left during the second season.[11] Manzo is depicted strengthening her longtime companionship with Giudice, beginning to date while continuing with her divorce, and sending her daughter Lexi to college.[6]

Teresa Giudice reconnects with Dina and Melissa in the midst of her legal difficulties, while Dina herself is in the midst of divorce proceedings. Looking to rekindle their friendship, Amber invites Melissa to her Harvest Party, where she, Dina, and Teresa Giudice meet housewives Nicole and Teresa Aprea. However, Amber feels that Melissa was not supportive during her earlier battle with cancer.[13]

Melissa tries to keep Christmas traditions alive, despite living in a rental home, while Dina feels more alone than ever as her daughter applies for college. Amber becomes consumed with home safety, while Teresa Aprea decides it’s time for her son to join the family empire. Teresa Giudice’s legal woes hang heavy over her family’s head as she struggles to keep things normal for her girls.[15]

Joe and Melissa are hoping to rake in the money with their new business -- a state of the art trash truck. Meanwhile, Teresa focuses on her dessert line, Fabilicious, and invites friends and family over to try out her new recipes. The taste-test turns sour when Teresa breaks down under the stress of her family’s trouble with the law. While Amber feels badly, the Giudices' legal situation has her mortgage-broker husband, Jim, keeping his distance. And when the twins hear that someone has started a rumor about Nicole, it becomes clear that things are about to get messy.[17]

Nicole and her firefighter boyfriend, Bobby, decide to throw a “First Responders” themed costume party together. The party kicks off hot and heavy as Dina finds a hunky young man she may be interested in. But soon enough, the “First Responders Party” turns into a five-alarm fire when Nicole confronts Amber about the rumor she's been spreading.[19]

Tempers are still fiery as the first responders party comes to a dramatic conclusion. Amber's husband Jim goes on the offensive with Teresa Aprea, while Nicole demands loyalty from her boyfriend Bobby. Dina tries to warm up to a new man in her life, but her feelings towards her ex still flicker within. Melissa and Amber have a sitdown to hash out just who started the rumor heard round the Jersey grapevine.[21]

It's a family affair in New Jersey as Melissa and Joe strive to take their new age garbage business to the next level, and Teresa and Rino embark on plans to expand their family's restaurant empire. Nicole and Bobby, meanwhile, try to prove Amber wrong with a little PDA, and Rosie introduces her girlfriend to the family. Isolated from the rest of the group, Amber turns to her own family for support, until a phone call from Nicole changes everything.[23]

Roses are the flowers of choice in the Garden State as the ladies celebrate Valentine’s Day in their own unique ways. And in a shocking turn of events, Victoria Gotti reveals a scandalous rumor to Amber and Teresa that could shake the group’s foundation to its core.[25]

As news spreads about a possible plea deal in Teresa’s court case, Dina and Melissa plan a surprise getaway to cheer their friend up in her most desperate time. Meanwhile, Amber and Nicole’s fragile reconciliation takes an unwanted detour when Amber starts texting nasty insults to Nicole’s boyfriend Bobby. Teresa and her husband Joe make a legal decision that will decide their fate and change their lives forever.[27]

The ladies each deal with some monumental life changes. Dina says goodbye to her long-time assistant Luke, while Teresa and her husband Rino tackle a medical scare. Meanwhile, the Giudices strive to live a normal life amidst the cloud of their guilty plea and Amber receives startling news from her doctor.[29]

"Fugetabout" the Jersey snow as Dina, Melissa, and the twins travel to the Sunshine State for a little bonding time. It’s all in good fun until a nasty secret Dina holds about the twins’ family threatens to derail the trip. Meanwhile, back in Jersey, Amber awaits news about whether her cancer has returned, and Teresa faces the new realities of her financial situation. Plus, Jacqueline returns and attempts to confront Teresa about her past.[31]

The conflict in Florida heats up as Jim has a difference of opinion with Dina, Melissa, and the twins as the shocking rumor about the twins’ family is revealed. Back in Jersey, Teresa and Joe feel the weight of their legal situation and plan a getaway to New York City, while their estranged friends Chris and Jacqueline struggle to keep the spice in their relationship.[35]

Back from their explosive trip to Florida, Teresa and Rino plan a tasting party to launch their new restaurant, but several names are conspicuously absent from the guest list – Teresa Giudice and Amber. With her Ladybug event only weeks away, Dina takes it upon herself to get Teresa to apologize to the twins for spreading the rumor, but getting Teresa to apologize could be a fool’s errand. Meanwhile, Melissa questions Amber about her home life with Jim, and Nicole meets Jacqueline for the first time.[37]

Finally, after pleading guilty to multiple fraud charges, Teresa and Joe Giudice learn their fate in federal court.[39]

All the housewives reunite with the host Andy Cohen to discuss highlights of the sixth season. Dina Manzo reveals where she stands with Caroline Manzo and the rest of her family.[43]
