The Polesworth School is a Warwickshire based school. The current Headmaster is Mr P. Hamilton.

History

The Polesworth School was founded in 1881 as an elementary school taking students between the ages of three and fourteen. It became a Secondary Modern in 1944, a Warwickshire High School in 1957, a 12 – 18 Comprehensive in 1976 and an 11 – 18 school in 1994. The School now has Academy status and is simply called The Polesworth School.

Facilities

The school occupies a 10-acre (40,000 m2) site in the Polesworth area. Its facilities include a Sports Centre whose use is shared with the community, a Drama Studio and a separate sixth form block with its own teaching, study and social areas.

The School buildings have recently been renamed. The buildings are named : Editha, Goodere, Inigo, Bramcote, Drayton, Nethersole and Rossetti.

Houses and Mixed Age Tutorial System

A new mixed age tutorial system has been introduced at The Polesworth School. This has been organised to fit in with our existing house system. All students are in one of the following Houses: Arden, Kenilworth, Stratford or Warwick.

Each House has 13 tutor groups. Each tutor group has a tutor and a co-tutor who have no more than 30 students in their care. The tutor groups include students from all year groups (Years 7 – 13). Within the tutor groups the students are organised into ‘family’ groups of 5 or 6 students per family. Each family is made up of students from different year groups.

Tutorial takes place once a day for 25 minutes. All tutor groups follow the same interactive programme and each House has one Assembly a week in which students are introduced to a range of spiritual, moral, social and cultural topics. Often, the themes raised in Assemblies are then explored further in our tutorial programme.

Vivo Miles

Recently, the VivoMiles system has been introduced at the school. Vivo Miles is a web-based rewards system proven to improve student engagement and help achieve school values. Students can earn Vivos in many different ways. They can then save up their Vivos and use them to buy things from the Vivo shop.

The Polesworth School 6th Form @ Tomlinson Hall
