The Parklife Weekender is an independent music festival held annually in Manchester. Originally born out of the Mad Ferret festival, it has since grown to around 70,000 people per day and moved from Platt Fields Park, Rusholme to Heaton Park, Prestwich in 2012 in order to accommodate the increased numbers attending.[1] It is jointly organised by a number of groups, including The Warehouse Project.[2]
Artists
Dizzee Rascal headlined in 2012 and Disclosure in 2013. The line up for 2014 included Snoop Dogg, Foals, Rudimental, Disclosure and London Grammar.[3]
2014 violence
The 2014 festival was attended by around 140,000 patrons over the course of both days.[4] Police made 29 arrests at the 2014 festival. Two teenagers were stabbed non-fatally and a 26 year old man killed by a punch to the head.[5]
