The seventh series of The Only Way Is Essex, a British semi-reality television programme, began airing on 30 September 2012 on ITV2.[1] The series concluded after 10 episodes. Series 7 marked the first series not to feature original cast member Lauren Goodger, after her departure from the series in August 2012.[2][3] It was confirmed that for the first time the entire cast from the previous series would all be returning. In the first episode original cast member Kirk Norcross who appeared in the first three series made a return. Tom Fletcher from the band McFly appeared in episode 4. The series concluded on 31 October and was the fourth and final series to air in 2012.

It was announced on 13 November 2012 that three festive specials would air in December 2012, with one episode being broadcast live.[4] The festive specials concluded on 19 December. On 14 December it was confirmed that Mark Wright would make a cameo appearance in the 2012 Christmas special, making it his second return to the show briefly appearing in one episode in series 6. On 19 December Lydia Bright confirmed she would be departing from the series and made her final appearance in the Christmas special.

Episode 11 and the TOWIE Live episodes do not appear on the series 7 DVD for unknown reasons although the 2012 Christmas special appears.

    Cast departures

    Tom Kilbey

    Tom Kilbey announced in November 2012 that he would not return following the end of the sixth series to wanting to focus on other projects, but did not rule out a return at some point in the future.

    Lydia Bright

    It was confirmed on 19 December 2012 that Bright was departing from the series and made her final appearance in the Christmas special although hinted that she would return in the future.

    Cara Kilbey

    On 19 February 2013 it was announced Cara Kilbey mutually would not be part of the next series; following the departure of her brother Tom Kilbey and a guilty plea for a drunk driving arrest.[5]

    Diags takes Chloe out to cheer her up following her recent split from her boyfriend, Mario goes to visit brother in law Tom Fletcher for advice on his relationship with Lucy. Lydia goes to confront Arg at his home following the recent arguments between him and her current boyfriend. Lucy decides to call off her engagement with Mario telling him she feels too young to get married.

    Bobby meets up with Danni to apologise after their massive argument at the Pink Friday party. Billi and Cara decide to postpone their plans to get christened. Arg and Joey discuss what should happen with the shoes Arg bought Lydia. The girls netball team, Essex United, play against England Netball. Kirk visits and discusses how he should approach ex-girlfriend Lauren. Charlie reveals to Bobby the conversation he had with Kirk and how he and Kirk are striking up a fast friendship. Arg asks Bobby around to shave his hair off. On the set of Jess's new music video, Carol and Nanny Pat discuss Jess and Ricky's relationship, where Ricky decides to show up. Jess is revealed to be heading off to L.A. for the next three months. Mario and Lucy discuss the situation involving Mick and the Sugar Hut Honeys. Mario, Tom K, Ricky and Little Chris get together before the parties. Little Chris and Ricky have disagreement over Ricky's relationship with Jess. Gemma and Jess get ready for the Halloween party and talk about Mick. Mick removes Gemma from the party guest list, leaving Gemma embarrassed when she later turns up and is refused entry by Danni to Sugar Hut. Mario, Lucy, Ricky, Jess, Bobby and Charlie decide to attend Little Chris' father's Oktoberfest party. Meanwhile, at the Halloween party Arg, with Joey, Tom P and Diags, receives a call from Gemma, wanting him to meet her after she was refused entry to the party. Kirk approaches Lauren briefly at Sugar Hut, but the chat is short. When Little Chris brings up Ricky's relationship with Jess again, the two fallout. Gemma is left upset when Arg tells her to get over the situation with Mick and goes back to the party. Bobby decides to talk to Charlie again about the chance of any possible future relationship with each other, but Charlie insists he has no feelings for Bobby. Darrell and Chloe decide to go on another date. Arg and Kirk have a drink after the party and share their struggles to move past their relationships with their exes. The episode ends with Joey, Arg, Mario, Lucy, Tom P, Diags, Little Chris, Sam and Billie running into the river wearing the shoes Joey used previously that can apparently make you run on water.


    This was the last episode to feature Tom Kilbey.

    Arg reveals he will be putting on a big charity event where all the cast will be showcasing there talents. Mick puts on a barn dance themed party to raise money for the event although Gemma and the Wright family are not invited.

    The live episode centered around the Charity night event with members of the cast performing including Kirk singing and Chloe and Diags performing Barbie Girl, Joey doesn't know if he wants to propose to Sam due to their constant arguing and fear of her leaving him again. The cast performed their 2011 Christmas single Last Christmas at the end of the episode.


    This was the last episode to feature Cara Kilbey.

    Mark Wright returns for Christmas to cheer up a depressed Arg and throws a MARG Christmas party, Lydia tells Lucy that she's leaving Essex to get away from Arg and concentrate on her relationship with Tom.


    This was the last episode to feature Lydia Bright (until series 9).
