Development

The One was created by Mediaworks in New Zealand. The One is based on the talent show "New Zealand's Got Talent".

The series' broadcast sponsor is Mediaworks, with Illegal Musik and TV2 as programme partners.[2]

The initial search of applicants were called to register in early December 2012 with the pre-audition/audition tour of 6 towns and cities being held in January and early February 2014, the televised auditions rounds are filmed immediately after the pre auditions.

Selection Process

Online-auditions

The first appeal for applicants was made on December 2013, with the announcement of the application process and pre-audition tour details. Applicants had to submit a form and send in a recording of their performance. Selecred acts would then receive an email telling them whether they had made the Pre-auditions in front of the show's producers.
