The Nobility is a pop rock band based in Nashville, Tennessee, composed of lead vocalist and guitarist Sean Williams, keyboardist Stephen Jerkins, percussionist Brian Fuzzell, and bassist Ben Harper.

History

The members of the Nobility originally recorded under the name Jetpack. The band name was changed in May 2007 on account of legal troubles after having been known as Jetpack since 2001.

The band released its first album, The Mezzanine, on July 31, 2007. An EP, Gentle Giant, followed two years later in 2009. The Art of Building a Moat, originally released under Jetpack in 2005, was re-released under The Nobility in 2009 as well, and the Christmas album I've Got a Present for You was released in December 2009. A full-length follow-up to The Mezzanine is expected to be released in 2010.

The band has released two music videos, one for the song "Mathematics" for the album The Art of Building a Moat, and one for the song "Gentle Giant" for the EP Gentle Giant.

The band's bassist spot has been filled by several rotating members, including David Dewese, who left to focus on other projects. Dewese played for the band in 2005 and 2006, and recorded on The Mezzanine.

The Nobility is the subject of a children's book titled Inside a Rock Band. It follows The Nobility through forming a band, writing lyrics, and playing shows. The book was written before the name change in 2007; therefore, the band is referred to as Jetpack UK. To promote the book, the band played full-volume rock shows in libraries across the United States. Near the end of May 2006, The Nobility (then Jetpack UK) began "The Art of Building a Tour" Tour. They traveled across the United States playing shows in cities such as Chicago, Illinois, and New York City, New York; the band again toured the Northeastern United States in the late summer and early fall of 2007 for The Mezzanine.

On June 31, 2008, the band recorded an interview and some unreleased songs on the music podcast Have You Heard.
