The Millennium Centre is located in Littleover, Derby. It is a post-16 sixth form centre, run jointly by Derby Moor Community Sports College Trust and Littleover Community School for students who wish to further their education by completing A Levels. The majority of students come from the two schools however external students can apply to attend. The sixth form has joint heads; Jamie Henshaw for Derby Moor and Rob Archer for Littleover.[1] There are a wide range of subjects for students to study at A-Level, with more recently the addition of a Sports BTEC mainly influenced by Derby Moor being a Sports College. The Millennium Cente is the top performing, non-private, sixth form in Derby.[2] The Millennium Centre will be split between the two schools, after a decade of cooperation. This is due to the ever changing nature of the two schools.
Curriculum
Most students at The Millennium Centre study 4 AS courses in Year 12 and continue with 3 or 4 A2 courses in Year 13. Students wishing to study further maths will study 5 in Year 12 and then either 3,4 or 5 in Year 13. General Studies is available in Year 13 for all students wishing to take it. Enrichment
All students are expected to participate in a wide range of enrichment activities throughout their two years. The choices currently include: Community Sports Leaders Award; Drama; Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award; Salsa; First Aid; Self Defence; Paired Reading; In Class Support; Survival Cookery; Sport; Work Experience; Counselling; Spanish; Art and Media. In addition, the Millennium Centre work closely with the Derby youth volunteer group “Vinvolved”,encouraging all students to enrol in order to achieve 200 hours of voluntary work within their wider community.
