The Longest Night is a 1983 Taiwanese war film directed by Chin Ao-hsun, based on a small-scaled battle between the invading People's Liberation Army and the resisting Republic of China Armed Forces on a few small islands (including Dadan Island) in the Taiwan Strait in late July, 1950.
The English title used in Hong Kong was The Night Ever So Long, so as to distinguish this film from the 1965 Hong Kong film The Longest Night.
