Initial critical response to The Lemon of Pink was very positive. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album has received an average score of 86, based on 9 reviews.[9] The online webzine Pitchfork Media placed "The Lemon of Pink" 20th on their top 100 albums of 2000-2004

"That Right Ain't Shit" was used as the soundtrack in an advertisement for a Hummer vehicle.[2]
"That Right Ain't Shit" was also used as the soundtrack to a DVS Skateboarding commercial featuring Jereme Rogers.
"Tokyo" was used in a commercial for spreading awareness of HIV.
