Zoku: The Legend of Bishin (美神伝説Zoku Bishin Densetsu Zoku)[3] is a beat 'em up action video game with racing elements that was released on December 25, 1993 for the Super Famicom.

The game takes place in and around Neo Tokyo after Mount Fuji erupts in a catastrophic manner in the year 2020.[4] While Tokyo survives and the people managed to repair the areas where the volcano destroyed their property, it becomes marginalized and become infested with street gangs. A female-dominated clan known as the Bishin rule Tokyo with the help of their leader, Ryoko.[4]

Gameplay

The game takes place in Neo Tokyo, 2020.

In a wasteland type environment far away from Neo Tokyo, a player must drive an automobile through a labyrinth-like series of roadways using either the male character Koji or the female character Risa. Koji was a professional boxer prior to the start of the game while Risa was offered a position in the enemy gang; but turned her back to them due to her beliefs.[4]

The player decides what strategies to use on the thugs that roam the no man's land. If the player doesn't make it to a destination on time, an automatic game over will result. Game over sequences also occur if the player is mortally wounded or through the destruction of the automobile. Most of the game is in English even though it was only released in Japan. There is a Final Fight-type fighting mode that appears if the player is delivered enough damage be expelled from his or her automobile.[4] In this mode, the driver can suffer personal damage instead of automobile damage because he or she is out of the vehicle.
