The John F. Kennedy Memorial Park

The John F.Kennedy Memorial Park in Eyre Square, County Galway, Ireland commemorates the assassinated American president, John F.Kennedy, who visited Ireland during the term of office.He was the first of America to do so and there is a commemorative plaque to his memory in the park. The park also contains cannon captured by the Connaught Rangers in the Crimea, the Quincentennial Fountain, the Pádraic Ó Conaire statue and the Liam Mellows Doorway. There is a statue of Liam Mellows (1892–1992), a hero of the war of independence, in the car park to the east of the Browne Doorway.
