The Energy Journal is the official quarterly journal of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) covering issues related to energy economics.[2][3] It is a peer-reviewed journal with an acceptance rate of about 20%.[2]

History

The Energy Journal was first published in 1980 as the official journal of the International Association for Energy Economics, which had been founded in 1977.[2][3]

Accessibility

Members of the IAEE are entitled to receive the journal as part of their membership benefits.[4] Others may buy individual articles (for $25) or individual issues (for $125).[5] Libraries can avail of subscription options.[4]

People with JSTOR access can access articles that are more than five years old (as of February 2014, this includes all articles published 1980-2008).[6]

Effective March 1, 2014, IAEE offers two open access publishing options: Gold Open Access where the article is immediately made freely available to the public under a Creative Commons license, but authors need to pay an article processing charge, and Green Open Access, where the article can be made free after an embargo of three years, and authors can share their first draft manuscripts freely on their own website.[7]

Impact and reception

The Energy Journal is a leading journal in the field of energy economics. As of 2010, Journal Citation Reports calculated its impact factor as 1.402 (averaging papers over the previous two years), immediacy index as 0.341, article influence score as 1.034, and rank as 38 out of 79 among energy journals.[2] JSTOR reports the impact factor as 1.857.[6]
