The third series of the British children's television series The Dumping Ground is currently broadcasting until late 2015 on CBBC and CBBC HD. The series follows the lives of the children in care the fictional children's care home of Ashdene Ridge. It is set to consist of twenty thirty-minute episodes, airing in two halves in January and September 2015, and is the eleventh series in the Tracy Beaker franchise. It was confirmed that head writer, Elly Brewer, who has been the head writer for Tracy Beaker Returns and the previous The Dumping Ground series, will not be a part of the writing team for this series.
Cast
All of the series 3 cast returned, with the exceptions of Daniel Pearson, Chris Slater and Leanne Dunstan, who play Rick Barber, Frank Matthews and Faith Davis. Faith and Rick were not mentioned again in series 3. Frank was mentioned once by *Kazima Tako in episode "Mischief".
Casting calls confirmed that this series will feature at least five new characters, including; twins Toni and Billie, played by Nelly and Gwen Currant;[1] dog Mischief, which CBBC ran a competition for viewers to name it and is played by Sage;[2] a disabled character called Finn,[3] as well as Sasha and Ryan, played by Ruben Reuter, Annabelle Davis and Lewis Hamilton respectively.[4]
It has been confirmed that there will be several guest stars in this series. Former EastEnders actress, Charlie Brooks, played Stephanie Branston who appeared in episode one with her footballer husband, Matt (played by Stuart Manning).[5] At a foster event, they meet Maude Gordon, who is played by Brooks’ daughter Kiki. Maude is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Gordon (played by Grant Burgin and Tanya French) attending the fostering day. [4] Former Casualty actress, Martina Laird starred as Mrs Underwood, a potential foster mother for Tyler Lewis in episode 1.[6] Diveen Henry starred as Tyler's mother, Sally, whom he reunites with. Former Waterloo Road star, Neil Morrissey will appear as Johnny and Tee Taylor’s abusive step-father, Keith. Having previously abandoned his family, Keith threatens the domestic stability that the Taylors' mother, who appeared in the previous series, has created for Johnny, Tee and baby Hope, who also appeared with her mother in the previous series.[4] Other actors that appeared throughout the course of the series include; Ray Emmet Brown;[4] Dai Bradley;[4] and Dallas Campbell.[4]

Ryan goes on a mission to rescue his friend Harry after he receives a surprise text from him saying "Help". When Ryan goes to Harry’s new foster home to find out what's going on, he discovers a tense atmosphere in the house and a terrified Harry, who wants nothing more than to come back to The Dumping Ground. The thing is Harry won't leave without another boy, Finn, who is also fostered by the family. Will they make it back to The Dumping Ground safely? And if they do, will Harry be brave enough to tell Mike the truth? And who does Mike believe – the foster family or Harry? Back at the home, Tyler finds an old battered trombone in a skip and quickly annoys the other residents with his attempts to learn how to play. Production
This series will feature scripts from Reeves, Richard Lazarus[27] and Sophie Petzal,[28] among others. Philip Gladwin has been confirmed as the show’s new script editor.[3]
Philip Leach will be taking over from Simon Nelson as producer and Lis Steele will continue her position as executive producer. Roberto Bangura, who was worked on shows such as Waterloo Road has joined the directing team. Other directors that will be directing the new series include; Nigel Douglas, who previously worked on The Dumping Ground; and former Wolfblood director, Matthew Evans.[29]
Production began on 16 June 2014, and was completed on 10 November 2014.[30]
