"The Change Is Made" is a song by the Bee Gees. Released from the group's fourth LP Horizontal (1968). This track was written by Barry, Robin & Maurice Gibb|Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb.

"The Change Is Made" was originally released in February 1968 on the Horizontal album. In mono version, it ends in 3:29, but in stereo it ends at 3:33. It was later remastered in 2007 when the Reprise Records reissued Horizontal.

Recording

"The Change Is Made" is a rock ballad that was recorded in November 29, 1967 at IBC Studios, London with lead vocals by Barry Gibb. It was also the last song recorded which was included on the album, the others were later included on The Studio Albums 1967-1968 and the reissue version of Horizontal in 2007 which was located on the disc two.[1]

Barry has said that "The Change Is Made" was born out of the brothers' love of R&B. Robin Gibb adds: ""Otis Redding, and people like the Stax artists influenced some songs -- "I Can't See Nobody" and "To Love Somebody. I remember that was done at 2 o'clock in the morning. It started out as a writing session which – Barry evolved."[2]

The song starts with a drum fill, and the guitar lines by Vince Melouney was featured, Maurice's bass is like a fuzz bass on this track. Barry's vocal here is emotional. The orchestra which was arranged by Bill Shepherd was featured. On the track's instrumental break 2:14, a guitar solo was played.[3]
