The Bronze is a 2015 American comedy film directed by Bryan Buckley and written by Melissa Rauch and Winston Rauch. The film stars Melissa Rauch, Gary Cole, Thomas Middleditch, Sebastian Stan, Cecily Strong, Haley Lu Richardson and Dale Raoul.

Principal photography of the film began in early July 2014 in Amherst, Ohio. Some gymnastics scenes filmed at Sokol Ceska Sin, in Cleveland, Ohio. Relativity Media will release the film on July 10, 2015.

Plot

A foul-mouthed former gymnastics bronze medalist Hope Annabelle Greggory (Melissa Rauch) must fight for her local celebrity status when a young athlete's star, Maggie Townsend (Haley Lu Richardson), rises in town.

On July 9, 2014, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions acquired the distribution rights to the comedy film, which stars Melissa Rauch, Gary Cole, Thomas Middleditch, Sebastian Stan, Cecily Strong and Haley Lu Richardson. Stephanie Langhoff will be producer for Duplass Brothers Productions.[1]

Filming

The principal photography on the film began on July 4, 2014 in Amherst, Ohio.[2] On July 7, the crew was spotted filming at Pikewood Manor in Elyria, Ohio.[3] The filming ended on July 26, 2014.[4]

Release

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 22, 2015.[5] On January 24, 2015, Relativity Media picked up distribution rights to the film.[6]

Reception

The Bronze has received generally mixed to negative reviews. The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes lists a 13% approval rating, based on 15 reviews, with a rating average of 4.1/10.[7] On Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating, the film has a score of 45 out of 100, based on 5 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".[8]
