The Breeze is a radio station, broadcasting to the cities of Portsmouth, Southampton and Winchester in England. The station is operated by Celador and is part of The Breeze network of stations. It is aimed at upmarket 40-59 year olds, playing classic and contemporary easy listening music with a slight female bias.

It broadcasts from Roman Landing in the Kingsway area of Southampton, sharing facilities with sister regional station 106 Jack FM.

History

The station (on 107.4 FM) was formerly known as Radio Victory, Victory FM, 107.4 The Quay and Quay Radio. It was controlled through a joint venture between TLRC and Portsmouth F.C., who bought the station outright in September 2009. The earlier joint venture also controlled Spirit FM in Chichester and Isle of Wight Radio, the former being taken over entirely by TLRC and the latter retained by Portsmouth Football Club in August 2009. From that point the station was referred to as Quay Radio instead of 107.4 The Quay to match the website address 'quayradio.com'.[1]

In July 2010 the station was put into administration by their owners, Portsmouth F.C., who were themselves in administration. A few days later Celador bought the station and announced that 107.4 FM would broadcast a new station 'The Breeze 107' from the end of July 2010. The broadcast rights to Portsmouth F.C.'s matches remained with the club, meaning that Pompey matches would no longer be broadcast on 107.4 FM. It was agreed days before the start of the 201011 Championship season that Express FM, a community station for Portsmouth, would now broadcast the commentary for Portsmouth F.C. matches.

The station closed on 30 July 2010.
