The Anthony Cumia Show is a podcast hosted by former host of The Opie and Anthony Show, Anthony Cumia. The show is broadcast in both audio and HD video from a studio located in his Long Island house. Production is handled by a staff consisting of Cumia's assistant Keith "Keith the Cop" Maresca, Audio/Visual Technician Benjamin "Rat" Ratner, and former Opie & Anthony producer Garrett "Stinky" Andritz. The show is currently in the process of acquiring a second studio within New York City, as well as enlisting other popular podcasts under a unified network.

Background

On July 3, 2014, Cumia was fired by SiriusXM, after making a series of tweets following an alleged off-air incident with an African-American woman on the street. Cumia tweeted that he was punched by the woman while attempting to take a picture in Times Square. The tweets were described by Sirius XM as "racially-charged and hate-filled".[2] Cumia stated on the Saturday, July 12 episode of Red Eye w/Greg Gutfeld that he was not going to apologize for the incident.[3]

At the time of Cumia's firing SiriusXM made no comment as to Hughes' possible future with the company at that time. Cumia gave his blessing for the Sirius XM show to continue without him, acknowledging Hughes and Norton's obligation to fulfill their contract with SiriusXM.[4] A relaunched Opie with Jim Norton Show resumed on July 14, 2014 with Hughes and Norton discussing the incident and noting that "The Opie and Anthony Channel" was renamed "Sirius XM Talk", along with various other alterations by the company in light of the firing.[5] In October 2014, Hughes and Norton signed a new contract to continue the SiriusXM show,[6] which appears on the rebranded "Opie Radio" Channel.

Show launch

Cumia announced on July 8, 2014, that he would launch a new Internet-based podcast as "The Anthony Cumia Show," which began airing in August 2014.[4] This show was kept separate from his old internet radio show Live from the Compound,[7] which Anthony had set up as a hobby, unrelated to his future show in the same studio.[8] Cumia's website later specified that "his live, uncensored HD video podcast" called The Anthony Cumia Show would launch on August 4.[9]

Since August 2014 the show airs from the basement of Cumia's basement studio where he hosted his previous show "Live From the Compound". Cumia and his producers are currently looking into setting up a studio in New York City in order to secure more guests to appear on the program.[10]

Format

The Anthony Cumia Show is available for $6.95 for a month, $32.95 for 6 months, and $59.95 for a year.[11] It airs Monday through Thursday from 4 to 6pm EST. Archives are available on video on demand after they air, and the audio is available for download via podcast apps later the same evening.[12]

The show features Cumia commenting on pop-culture, politics, video games, and events regarding his personal life. Cumia often conducts interviews with guests at his poker table, pool, or bar. Guests have included Cumia's former co-host Jim Norton, Ari Shaffir, John Melendez, Mike Brown, and Colin Quinn.[10] Opie has yet to make an appearance on the show as he wants to talk with Anthony about "things" before appearing on the show.

Cumia is the only host of the show, but has stated he would be willing to have a co-host if it were the right person.[10]

Network Expansion

Initial Test Shows

Over the Christmas break, Jokeland with Jackie Martling, Black from the Compound, and The Bobo Show were tested as potential shows to be added to the network.

Legion of Skanks

On March 10, the Legion of Skanks (Big Jay Oakerson, Dave Smith, Luis J. Gomez) hosted a podcast after The Anthony Cumia Show. It's believed that they will eventually join the network on a permanent basis.

Black from the Compound

On March 11, Black from the Compound, hosted by Mike Brown and Brandon Collins, was broadcast live after The Anthony Cumia Show.
