The second season of The Amazing Race Canada was a reality game show based on the American series The Amazing Race. It featured eleven teams of two, each with a pre-existing relationship. The winning team was awarded CA$250,000, two Chevrolet Silverado "High Country Edition" trucks, free gasoline for life from Petro-Canada and the ability to fly for free anywhere for a year with Air Canada in business class. Jon Montgomery returned as the host.

The season premiered on July 8, 2014 and the finale aired on September 21, 2014. Best friends Michael "Mickey" Henry and Peter "Pete" Schmalz were the winners.

Production

Development and filming

The starting line for the second season of The Amazing Race Canada located near the Glacier Skywalk and the Columbia Icefield in Jasper National Park.

On September 16, 2013, CTV announced that the show was renewed for the second season during the first season reunion special.[2]

Unlike the first season, the race traveled to destinations outside of Canada like other international Amazing Race counterparts.[3]

This show features MasterChef Canada judge Alvin Leung as a judge for the "Master Chef" task in Leg 3 and Hong Kong-Canadian actress Jennifer Tse, who greeted the teams in the Pit Stop on the same leg.[4][5]

Casting

Casting began in November 2013, with an online site for submission of applications and audition videos.[3] The first three teams were revealed on June 17, 2014, with the remaining teams announced on June 18 and June 20.[6] The contestants include ice hockey players and gold medalists Natalie Spooner and Meaghan Mikkelson and ballet dancer Rex Harrington.

Alain Chanoine proposed to Audrey Tousignant-Maurice at the Pit Stop of Leg 8.

Marketing

Air Canada and Chevrolet retain their sponsorship from the first season, the new prize is receiving a gas supply from Petro-Canada and Scotiabank.[7]

Broadcasting

After episode 6, a special mid-season reunion/recap titled "After The Race" aired. Hosted by James Duthie, the program reviewed the events of the first 6 episodes with the first 5 eliminated teams. A second "After The Race" special that was again hosted by Duthie, aired immediately after the season finale with all the teams present to review the season as a whole.

Leg 1 (Alberta → British Columbia)

In Victoria, teams visited The Empress hotel for the second Roadblock where they had to serve afternoon tea to an etiquette class and recite the tea menu from memory.

The second season of The Amazing Race Canada started in Athabasca Glacier in Jasper National Park. Teams informed them the winner of the first leg would win the Express Pass when a team may skip it before at the end of Leg 8, with the other Express Pass card to be given to another team before at the end of Leg 5. They were also given their first task: head to Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, and then find Frank King Day Lodge.

At the Canada Olympic Park, teams had to find the 90 metres (300 ft) ski jump and then take North America's fastest zipline – "The Monster" – to receive their next clue, along with a Scotiabank American Express card that would serve as the teams' source of money for the rest of the race, from Olympian Helen Upperton. The clue also told them to travel for their first destination city: Victoria, British Columbia. There were three flights available to the teams, arriving one hour apart.

Upon arriving in Victoria, teams had to head to Viscount Aero Center, where they had to search a vintage 1930's Fleet Model 10D biplane for their Roadblock clue, and the teams asking "Who's ready to jump into this race?". One team member had to make their way to the hangar of the Aero Center, where they would board a plane and then tandem skydive 12,000 feet (3,700 m) with an instructor onto Willows Beach, where they could join their partner. Their instructor would give them their next clue.

The clue after the first Roadblock instructed teams to head to The Empress and had to search for an Arbutus tree to find their next clue, the second Roadblock. The team member did not perform the tandem skydive Roadblock had to serve afternoon tea to the patrons at the Empress Hotel in Victoria. They were given a lesson in etiquette and had to recite the menu options from memory. Once the tea master declared that they had provided "acceptable service", he would hand them their next clue.

The post-Roadblock clue sending teams travel by boat to Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt in Colwood where they became Navy recruits by suiting up to attempt to stop a simulated flooding ship from "sinking" by plugging nine gaps in the ship's hull. Once all nine gaps were plugged, the team received their next clue. There was a miscellaneous task (in an unaired segment) where teams had to wear a firefighter suit and oxygen tank and put out a simulated helicopter fire.[9] The clue received teams from the navy task where they directed to the Pit Stop at Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Site.

Leg 2 (British Columbia)

On South Chesterman Beach, teams used driftwood to construct a traditional Tofino deckchair.

During the Pit Stop, all teams were moved back to The Empress to begin this leg of the race, they opened their clues and were instructed to head to Tofino. Upon arrival, they had to pick up Chevrolet Volts for transportation for this leg, whether they can possible recharge their Volts at designated charging stations, and their next clue, sending them to Wickaninnish Beach to search the grounds for their next clue.

The clue was for the Detour, given them a choice between Sharp Knives and Sharp Eyes. Both Detours required teams to head to Ucluelet Harbour. In Sharp Knives, teams had to watch a demonstration, and then correctly fillet at least 30 pounds (14 kg) of fish to receive their next clue. Teams had a limited amount of fish. If they ran out without reaching the target they must switch detour options or take a penalty. In Sharp Eyes, teams had to sort through 1,000 pounds (450 kg) of assorted Pacific rockfish and separate them into five bins until receiving their next clue.

The post-Detour clues instructed teams to North Chesterman Beach where they had to change into wetsuits and then ride from the surf shack to the beach with their surfboard on bicycles. Once at the beach, one team member had to surf a wave for at least three seconds whilst their partner videoed their effort to receive their next clue.

The clue was eventually discovered for the Roadblock at South Chesterman Beach, asking "Who gets the drift?". One team member had to use driftwood from the beach as well as fishing nets to construct a traditional Tofino deckchair and sit through the builder's weight to receive their next clue, directing them to head to Olsen Road Crab Dock for the Pit Stop.

Leg 3 (British Columbia → Hong Kong, China)

In Hong Kong, teams visited the famous Bruce Lee statue on Avenue of Stars.

During the Pit Stop, all teams were moved back to Chesterman Beach to begin this leg of the race, told to open their clues and instructed them to travel to Hong Kong. Upon arriving, teams had to head to Lantau Peak and must ride a cable car to Ngong Ping Village where they will have to sign up for a morning blessing with three different groups. Then the next day, teams will listen to the blessing, then climb up 268 steps to the Tian Tan Buddha to get their next clue, sending them to Golden Dragon Statue in Wan Chai and with their next clue.

The clue where teams got a choice between Master Chef or Kung Fu Master. In Master Chef, teams have to go to Bo Innovation, and then be greeted by MasterChef Canada judge Alvin Leung. He will hand them a shopping list of 10 items. They must then go to Wan Chai Wet Market, and purchase all 10 items and head back. Once they found the 10 items on the shopping list that Alvin Leung gave the teams, he will hand them their next clue. In Kung Fu Master, teams suit up in a traditional martial arts uniform, and then perform a difficult kung fu routine. If they successfully perfected their kung fu skills, kung fu master Lee would hand them their next clue. There was a Double U-Turn on this leg and it went unaired.

The post-Detour clues teams made their way to She Wong Lam Snake Restaurant for the Roadblock clue, asking "Is that a snake in my soup?". One team member will be first greeted by a snake master who will choose a serpent and show it to the team member. The master would take out the snake's gallbladder and then the person has to drink a shot of the snake's bile and a bowl of snake meat soup. After they finished their meal, the master would give them their next clue.

The clue where received after the Roadblock, teams had to travel to the Statue of Bruce Lee when they reached on a statue, they would have to strike a series of poses, including the famous Bruce Lee pose, for a local film director who would receive their next clue, sending them to Kowloon Walled City Park for the Pit Stop.

Leg 4 (Hong Kong, China → Macau, China)

At Senado Square in Macau, one side of the Detour required teams to learn a Macanese folk dance routine.

Airdate: July 29, 2014

At the start of the leg, teams were told to travel by ferry to Macau. Upon arrival, they were head to A-Ma Temple and must perform an ancient ceremony, meant to ward off ancient spirits – lighting firecrackers in order to receive their next clue. The clue where teams instructed to head to Macau Tower and picked up the Roadblock clue, asking "Who wants a great view of the city?". One team member had to take a 764 feet (233 m) bungee jump off the Macau Tower. Once they landed on the street below, they received their next clue.

The post-Roadblock clue directed them to "Happiness Street"/Rua de Felicidade and look an Almond Biscuit Store to find the dealer would give their next clue: the leg's Detour, a choice between Stamp It or Stomp It. In Stamp It, teams had to make their way to the Ruins of St. Paul's, where they would pick up a scroll. They then had to search the streets around Senado Square looking for six shrines, marked with one of six ancient Chinese symbols. At each station, they had to mark their scroll with a stamp in ink. Once they returned to the Ruins of St Paul's with six stamps on their scroll, they would receive their next clue. In Stomp It, teams had to head to Senado Square and join a Macanese folk dance troupe and learn a complicated routine. Once the instructor was happy with their effort, she would hand them their next clue.

The post-Detour clues instructed them to head to Grand Lapa Hotel where they had to learn how to correctly deal a game of Fan-Tan to receive their next clue. After completing the task, teams had to go to the Grand Lisboa Hotel and then traverse a series of underground passageways to find their next Pit Stop: Praça de Ferreira do Amaral.

Leg 5 (Macau, China → Yukon)

Miles Canyon served as the Pit Stop for this leg of the Race; teams arrived by canoeing the Yukon River.

Airdate: August 5, 2014

During the Pit Stop, all teams were moved to Kun Iam Ecumenical Centre to begin this leg of the race, they were given their next clue, instructing to head to Whitehorse, Yukon. Before leaving, they must fly on Air Canada's premium economy class flight from Hong Kong to Vancouver, and then to Whitehorse. Upon arrival, teams had to pick up marked Chevrolet Silveradoes, and their next clue, directing them to Sky High Wilderness Ranch where they going to spend overnight.

The next morning, teams will get their breakfast at the ranch kitchen in the morning, along with their next clue: the Detour, given a choice between Make Your Bed or Ride a Sled. In Make Your Bed, teams have to grab 2 heavy backpacks, and then head to the campsite, to find a locked chest, and a key inside a block of ice in the cooler. Then, they have to empty their backpacks, properly built a tent, and set up a campfire which is needed to melt the block the ice to retrieve the key. Teams will then open the chest, do inspection with a wilderness expert and receive their next clue. In Ride A Sled, teams first select 3 dogs from a board at the ranch, then they have to run 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) on a trail to a frozen lake. Then, they have to search through a number of dog harnesses that matches 3 dogs they selected. Once found the harnesses, teams will have to correctly put it on the dog, and attach the dogs to the sled. Each team member will have to complete 3 laps around the frozen lake to receive their next clue.

For the Speed Bump, Sukhi & Jinder have to use their Chevrolet Silverado to hook up a 20 feet (6.1 m) trailer. Then they drive 12.5 kilometres (7.8 mi) to a marked parking spot for a trailer until they have to reverse their pickup truck. The trailer or the pickup truck cannot knock down any cones before they could continue to their next destination: Grey Mountain.

At the Grey Mountain, teams find the Biathlon Yukon course for the Roadblock, asking "Who's got a steady hand?". One team member to ride a snow bike for 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) course in the woods before heading to the shooting range, where the person has to successfully shoot all 5 targets without missing, the shooter would receive the next clue. If the person misses any targets, they must start over again by running the course again, and shoot the remaining targets. The post-Roadblock clue instructed teams had to portage a canoe from the woods and then paddle down the Yukon River 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) to the Pit Stop.

Leg 6 (Yukon → Manitoba)

For this leg's Fast Forward in Winnipeg's Exchange District, teams had to search for its historic ghost signs (example on the building on the left).

Airdate: August 12, 2014

At the start of the leg, teams opened their next clue, informing them to travel to the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Upon arrival, they had to head to Golden Boy in Manitoba Legislative Building where they had to figure out where this was, and searched with their next clue, instructed them to Royal Canadian Mint.

At the Royal Canadian Mint, teams would receive coins from ten different countries, out of the many countries that coins are produced for at this mint. They would then have to run along the mint's driveway, where there were a series of flagpoles representing all countries that the mint produced for, and identify the flags that matched each of their 10 coins. If teams could place their coins onto a board of flags and correctly match each coin to its flag, they would receive their next clue.

The clue instructed teams to find "the windiest intersection" that directed them to the intersection between Portage and Main to search with the route marker and a cluebox. The Fast Forward where teams had to go to the Exchange District's iconic building "The Cube" and receive a list of partial phrases. They then had to search around the district for seven historic painted advertisements on the outside walls of buildings, which would contain the full version of one of their partial phrases. They had to look at the advertisement and fill in the blanks on sheets of paper with what was painted on the building. Once they had all seven filled in, they could return to The Cube and being awarded the Fast Forward.

Otherwise teams had to do with the Detour, a choice between Puck It and Pinch It. In Puck It, teams made their way to the MTS Centre, where they had to dress in hockey gear. Team members would take turns guiding a puck down a slalom of cones and would then shoot it at the net, which would be blocked by a wooden goalie with five holes. Teams would have to shoot the puck through all five openings, including "the notorious" five-hole, the referee would receive their next clue. In Pinch It, teams made their way to the St. Ivan Suchavsky Cathedral to find the basement hall. There, they had to properly make 74 traditional Ukrainian pierogis until they order to get their next clue. If the dish was unsatisfied, they have to make it again.

The post-Detour clues instructed them to Whiskey Dix for the Roadblock, asking "Who has performance issues?". One team member would dress as a glam rock star and had to memorize a rock and roll song. They would then perform it with a band in front of an audience of Winnipeg music-lovers, and would receive their next clue if they sang all of the lyrics correctly. The clue directing them to the Pit Stop at Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

Leg 7 (Manitoba → France)

Teams visited the Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery in Lower Normandy to honour those Canadian soldiers who died in World War II.

Airdate: August 19, 2014

During the Pit Stop, all teams were moved back to Portage and Main to begin this leg of the race, they informed to open their clues and headed next to France. Upon arriving in the national capital of Paris, teams picked up the marked vehicles and drive themselves to Lower Normandy and find Calvados Boulard in Coquainvilliers had to pick up the Roadblock clue, asking "Who wants to give it their 40 percent?". One team member had to take a sample of calvados from a barrel and use a mathematical formula and tools provided, as well as a demonstration, to distil the calvados to 40% ABV. Once the distiller was happy with their work, they received their next clue.

The post-Roadblock clue instructed teams heading to Hôtel de Ville in Le Molay-Littry and searching with their next clue, encountered the Detour, a choice between Show It or Tell It. In Show It, teams had to travel to Elevage de Nesque and correctly groom a Percheron horse of their choosing. Once the horse was groomed, they had to correctly braid the horse's mane to receive their next clue. In Tell It, teams traveled to the courtyard of the Bayeux Tapestry Museum, where they were given twelve images of the Norman invasion of England from the tapestry. Using nine descriptions on boards around the courtyard, they had to correctly identify the images that matched up to the descriptions and place them on a board. Once all nine were correct order, they received their next clue.

The post-Detour clues sending them to a beach in Asnelles where each team member had to participate in land sailing, and complete a circuit ten times to receive their next clue. The clue directing them to Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery where teams took a moment of reflection for the 2,049 Canadian soldiers buried in the cemetery, before receiving their next clue, along with a Lest We Forget card, informing them to head to the Remembrance and Renewal statue at the Juno Beach Centre, teams gave their Lest We Forget card to the Canadian Army D-Day re-enactor stationed there, and he would direct them to the Pit Stop on Juno Beach.

Leg 8 (France)

In Paris, teams visited the famous Arc de Triomphe to look for their clue.

Airdate: August 26, 2014

During the Pit Stop, all teams were moved to Bayeux Cathedral to begin this leg of the race, they opened their clues and must travel to Gare de Bayeux where they had to sign up one of two trains to Paris leaving an hour apart. Upon arrival in Paris, teams instructed to head to the famous Arc de Triomphe and their next clue, directing them to Garden of New France in Place du Canada where they had to search the area for the next clue.

The clue was encountered with the Detour, a choice between Haute Couture and Plat du Jour. In Haute Couture, teams made their way to the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, where they would have to use the provided tools and materials to cut and sew on the fabric for a Haute Couture dress. If their dress met the satisfaction of a judge, teams would get their next clue. In Plat du Jour, teams traveled to the Marais District and had to search the chalkboard placed outside of cafés for three items marked with a race flag. Teams had to purchase these items and memorize how to pronounce them in French. They would then deliver all three items to a waiting couple and say each name correctly to get their next clue.

The post-Detour clues instructing teams to Centre Georges Pompidou and had to look with the Speed Bump and the Route Info clues. For the Speed Bump, Ryan & Rob had to learn how to perform the French folk song "Au clair de la lune" on a pair of accordions. If they could play the song in unison for an audience, they could continue with the race.

The clue where it opened at Centre Georges Pompidou, teams instructed them to Île aux Cygnes at Pont de Grenelle for the Roadblock, asking "Who likes candies?". One team member would have to recreate a local modern art painting using Race sponsor Mentos candies. They had to follow a given example and place the candies onto a board so that the image matched the painting. If they met the approval of a judge, they would get their next clue. The clue sending teams to Pont de l'Archevêché where they had to search around for the Pit Stop, which was located on Quai de la Tournelle.

Leg 9 (France → Quebec)

Teams visited the Atwater Market in Montreal and had to search the intersection of Avenue Atwater and Rue Saint-Ambroise for their next clue.

During the Pit Stop, all teams were moved to Parvis des droits de l'homme to begin this leg of the race. They hold their clues and told them to travel to Montreal, Quebec, in the former French colony of New France. Upon arriving in Montreal, teams had to head to Air Canada Priority Check-in Counter in Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport and they received their next clue.

The clue where teams sending them to Circuit ICAR in Mirabel International Airport where they picked up the Roadblock clue, asking "Who can turn on a dime?". One team member had to drive a Chevrolet Camaro SS and complete a 2 stage precision driving course. First, they must perform a quarter drift without the car spinning out. Then they will perform a 180 degree reverse turn. The instructor will give them their next clue once both stages are accurately finished.

The post-Roadblock clue sent teams to the Atwater Market at the intersection of Avenue Atwater and Rue Saint-Ambroise, encountered with the Fast Forward clue, and as well with the Detour. The Fast Forward required teams to head to Parisian Laundry where teams had to select a pose. After they selected a pose, they will head into the curtain room and then strike the pose so that artists can sketch the team. They will then will be asked to pose in their underwear and then eventually naked. If the teams get uncomfortable, teams can choose to go back to the Detour. When the artists finished sketching the teams, they would win the Fast Forward.

Otherwise where they had to do the Detour, a choice between Flamed or Grilled. In Flamed, teams headed to the Espace VERRE and watch a demonstration by a local artist on how to melt glass rods to create beads. They will then make 5 different beads which are needed to complete a sample necklace. The artist will give them their next clue if the beads are all made correctly. In Grilled, teams head to a food stand called Le Cheese in Rue de la Commune Ouest. They will then study and sample 10 different grilled cheese sandwiches. Then teams had to run 50 meters to the Le Cheese food truck, where they had to correctly identify all grill cheese sandwiches flavors by memory. If teams got them all correct, the chef will give them their next clue.

The post-Detour clues instructed them to head to Square-Victoria Metro Station and searched the grounds for their next clue, sending them to the Pit Stop at The Belvedere right beside Montreal Science Centre.

Leg 10 (Quebec → Prince Edward Island)

The Prince Edward Island Roadblock had teams identify Fathers of Confederation impersonators meeting in Province House in Charlottetown.

Airdate: September 9, 2014

During the Pit Stop, all teams were moved to Place d'Armes to begin this leg of the race, they opened their next clue and informed to fly to Prince Edward Island. Upon arrival on its provincial capital of Charlottetown, teams had to get Chevrolet Impalas at the Charlottetown Airport where they had to search inside the car for their next clue. The clue teams instructed to head to Red Shores Racetrack, one team member had to carry their partner using a sulky around the racetrack for 2 laps. The team member who was carrying their partner had to wear blinders. Once the laps complete, a race official would receive their clue.

The clue teams received and instructed them to Province House for the Roadblock, asking "Who's your daddy?". One team member had to speak to impersonators of friends and family of selected Fathers of Confederation who attended the historical 1864 Charlottetown Conference on the grounds of Province House, who will give their delegates' name and a physical description of them. Then the team member had to go inside and correctly identify 10 Fathers of Confederation impersonators (George Brown, George-Étienne Cartier, George Coles, Robert B. Dickey, Col. John Hamilton Gray, Hector-Louis Langevin, Thomas D'Arcy McGee, William Henry Pope, Samuel Tilley, Dr. Charles Tupper) by memory. If the team member gets them all right, an impersonator of Father of Confederation and Canada's first Prime Minister, Sir John A. Macdonald, will give them their next clue.

The post-Roadblock clue teams went to Petro-Canada gas station in Cornwall where they had to fill the gas tanks of their Chevrolet Impalas all the way to "full" – so teams could complete the rest of this leg in order to receive their next clue, sending them to Lucy Maud Montgomery's House in New London encounter with the Speed Bump and Detour clues.

For the Speed Bump, Ryan & Rob had to dig 3 bottles of "Moonshine" inside a pile of horse manure. Once they were done, they could continue with the Detour, given the teams choice between Mussel or Mass. In Mussel, teams had to go to Prince Edward Aqua Farms in Springbrook where they had to process 1,800 pounds (820 kg) (or three full bins) of mussels. They had to suit up and strip the mussels from their "socks" – where they were growing and multiplying in the North Atlantic for the last 2 years – into a new bin. The plant manager will give them their next clue once they're done, and their work area is clean. In Mass, teams head to Mull Na Beinne Potato Farm in New London where they had to calculate the weight of over 10 million russet potatoes using a tape measure and a calculator. If teams figured out the correct weight, Vernon, the potato farmer will give them their next clue. The clues teams instructed them to head to the Pit Stop at Farmers' Bank of Rustico in North Rustico.

Leg 11 (Prince Edward Island → New Brunswick)

While in New Brunswick, teams visited the famous Hopewell Rocks for the Detour in this leg of the race.

During the Pit Stop, all teams were moved to Peake's Wharf to begin this leg of the race, they were opened their next clue that were headed to Shediac, New Brunswick and they must use Chevrolet Traxs for transportation for this leg. Once in Shediac, teams made their way to Dairy Queen restaurant where they had to serve Blizzards and custom ice cream cakes for an Acadian birthday party for their next clue.

The clue teams instructed to head to Albert County Museum in Hopewell Cape and search with their next clue, the Detour, and given a choice between By Land or By Sea. In By Land, teams first have to get a GPS, then search for 10 hidden items (geocache) using their GPS. Once they returned all 10 different items, they would receive their next clue. In By Sea, teams first had to locate the Hopewell Rocks, then had to learn the Maritime tradition of international signal flags. Then they will find a box of 100 different flags and 7 nautical messages. They will then run along the beach where they will find a code book, then memorize the flag codes. When teams think they are confident, teams had to go back to the area where they found their box, then select the matching flags, then place them up on a pole in the correct order.

The post-Detour clues teams headed to Cape Enrage in Harvey and picked up the Roadblock clue asking, "Who is ready to rage against the cape?". One team member had to rappel down the rock face of Cape Enrage where they will find the first half of their next clue. Then the team member will run along the rocky shore where they have to climb up the rock face to find the second half of the clue to keep on racing. The clue instructed one team member must correctly secure a safety harness to their partner, then once approved by the safety inspector, zip-line with their partner down to the lighthouse at the Pit Stop.

Leg 12 (New Brunswick → Ontario)

The final Roadblock in Ottawa required teams to ascend the new glass atrium of the Canadian Museum of Nature.

Airdate: September 21, 2014

At the start of the leg, teams instructed to travel for their final destination city of the Canadian capital: Ottawa, Ontario. Upon arriving in Ottawa, teams had to find Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge in Ottawa Macdonald–Cartier International Airport and receive with their next clue. The clue sending them to take by boat from Fleet Street Pumping Station where they had to ride inflatable kayaks down the Ottawa River through an Olympic kayaking training course, until they reach the Rideau Canal in order to find their next clue.

The clue teams where instructed them to head to Parliament Hill and find a Centennial Flame for their next clue, informed them to find the office of the Honourable Andrew Scheer, and would choose one of three envelopes with a date written on it. They would then have to search among the thousands of books stored in his office, known as Hansard, chronicling the debates that took place at Parliament Hill. They had to search for their specified date and figure out which historic Canadian event took place on that date (Mickey & Pete: March 25, 1986 – Introduction of the loonie coin; Natalie & Meaghan: March 30, 1949 – Adoption of "O Canada" in English and French; Ryan & Rob: December 15, 1964 – Introduction of the new Canadian flag), If they found it, they could bring their answer to the Library of Parliament to receive their next clue.

The clue teams instructed to go to CFS Carp (known as "Diefenbunker" in the show) where they searched with the Roadblock clue, asking "Who's da bomb?". One team member had to enter the Diefenbunker. There, they had to search among the bunker's vast array of rooms for three of five hidden toys; a helicopter, a tank, a jeep, a plane and a compass. Once they had found three and returned them to the front desk, they would receive their next clue. The clue received and eventually discovered with the another Roadblock. Teams must send them to Canadian Museum of Nature where the team member did not perform the previous Roadblock and first would have to use a mechanical ascender to climb to the top of the museum's glass atrium, grabbing their next clue along the way. Once at the top, they had to pull themselves along the roof before they could return to their partner.

The post-Roadblock clue sending teams to National Gallery of Canada where they would have to put together an art installation known as 'Paintings from the Race'. They would have to choose from a large selection of paintings, 36 of which depicted places seen on the race (some paintings are of unrelated scenes from past Race versions, including the original American franchise). They would have to arrange these paintings into the correct places on the wall, three for each leg of the race. Once all of the paintings were correct, teams would receive their final clue, directing them to Rideau Hall, the Finish Line of the Race.
