Thapa
Thapa is the surname of a large social group of people, predominantly Magars as well as Chhettris, from Nepal. Over a period of time, this community has spread to other countries of the world.
Thapa Magars come from the upper part of Nepal to lower parts of Tibet . Chhetri Thapas are:

One of the former Prime Ministers of Nepal Surya Bahadur Thapa is a Chhetri Thapa. Amar Singh Thapa, Bhimshen Thapa, Mathwar Singh Thapa are also Chhetri and most recently army chief Dharmapal Barsingh Thapa is also Chhetri Thapa. Similarly, Bhakti Thapa was a Chhetri Thapa who played an important role in Anglo-Nepalese war.
