The Texas Central Railway is a planned high-speed rail line with direct service from Houston to Dallas/Fort Worth. The owner/operator has indicated that the line could be open by 2020[1] and it would therefore become one of the first high-speed rail lines in North America.
A proposed second phase of the project would link Austin and San Antonio along the I-35 corridor, although no timescale has been given.
