Terri Crawford Hansen
Terri Crawford Hansen (journalist) (b. 1953) is a Native American journalist who focuses on environmental and scientific issues affecting North American tribal and worldwide indigenous communities.[1] Hansen is a correspondent for the Indian Country Today Media Network, and contributes to High Country News. Her articles appear in other news publications, and online sites. Hansen maintains an online public service news project titled Mother Earth Journal.
Education and Honors
Attended Portland State University while employed at The Oregonian, from which she retired in 1992. In 1994 she was selected a Fellow by the Society of Environmental Journalists; a 2009 Fellow of the National Press Foundation; she received 2009 and 2010 Fellowships from the Association of Health Care Journalists; she is a 2008 Project Word grant recipient; a 2009 International Funders for Indigenous Peoples funding recipient to report the COP15 United Nations Climate Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark; a 2010 Climate Media Fellow of the Earth Journalism Network to report the COP16 UN Climate Summit in Cancun, Mexico.,[2] and a National Association of Science Writers Diverse Scholar Fellow, 2014.[3][4][5]

Memberships
Hansen is a member of the Society of Environmental Journalists, the Association of Health Care Journalists, the Native American Journalists Association, the Earth Journalism Network, and the Wordcraft Circle of Native Writers and Storytellers. As a member of the Association of Health Care Journalists, she requested with other journalists that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) end current practices that restrict the public's access to health information.[7]
Personal life
Hansen was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and is an enrolled member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.[8] She lives in Whidbey Island, Washington. She has one daughter, Danielle Hansen.[1]
